We give thanks, honor and praise to God for the 74 years he has kept us together. As we give you an account of what has happened.
On October 22nd in the year 1939, a band of praying men and women met together at Browns Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
With eight (8) churches represented they organized the City Wide Usher Union.
With the exception of one church, seven (7) of them are still in the Union at the present time there are 26 churches on the roll and Three associate members.
Doing these 80 years, there have been a total of 10 presidents; one serving for 35 years was Brother Alfonzo McCoy. We have had 7 secretaries and 5 treasurers. And a chaplain that served for 43 years was Sister Oscar Williams. Sis Elizabeth Campbell has been a member the the City Wide Ushers Union for 51 years. She has been on every Committee in the Union. She served as Mistress of ceremonies for a number of years, and was elected secretary in 1990. She has served as Secretary for over 24 years. On February 2, 2014 she was honored with the title of Secretary Emeritus.
The City Wide Ushers Union serves during Asheville's annual city-wide revival, at funerals, and during Holy week services. Under the leadership of Brother Richard McCoy we have began to have usher workshops.
Our business meetings are held on the fourth Friday night of each month at 7PM. And our monthly Turn-Outs are hosted by a participating church on the first Sunday of each month starting promptly at 3:00 PM.
We bow in humble submission to one who does all things well with the home going of (18) members between August 30, 2017 and July 2018.

Ferguson Missionary Baptist Church, Sycamore Temple COGNC, New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Catawba View Missionary Baptist Church, St. John-A Missionary Baptist Church, Beulah Chapel, FBH Church, God Promise Christian fellowship, St John Missionary Baptist, Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and Greater Works COGIC.
